Rank Map Analysis

One ranking number tells you almost nothing. Here's what actually matters.

Most businesses track their Google ranking with a single number. "We're ranking number four for HVAC repair in [city]." That number comes from a search run at one location, at one moment in time. It tells you how you rank for one person searching from one spot.

Your customers aren't all searching from the same spot. They're searching from their homes, their offices, their job sites — spread across your entire service area. And your ranking varies significantly depending on where that search originates. You might be number one in the neighborhood next to your shop and number eight three miles away. You'd never know from a single ranking check.

A rank map shows you the full picture.

What a Rank Map Actually Shows

A rank map is a geographic grid overlaid on your service area — typically a five-by-five or seven-by-seven grid of points, each one representing a simulated search from that location. At each point on the grid, you can see where you rank for your primary keyword. The result is a visual map of your visibility across your entire service area — showing exactly where you're dominant, where you're competitive, and where you're essentially invisible.

That map tells you things a single ranking number never could: where your visibility drops off and why; which neighborhoods you're underserving with your current content structure; where a competitor has built stronger geographic relevance than you have; which areas represent the highest-value ranking opportunities based on search volume and competition.

How Rank Maps Drive Strategy

The rank map is the data layer underneath every Core 30 decision. Before we build, it shows us your baseline — where you stand and what's holding you back. During the build, it shows us what's moving and what needs more support. After the Core 30 is complete, it guides Phase 2 — identifying which geographic areas need expansion content and in what order.

Without a rank map, local SEO is guesswork with a professional vocabulary. With one, every decision has a clear data rationale.
