Local SEO Competitor Analysis

You can't close a gap you haven't measured.

The businesses outranking you aren't winning on reputation. They're winning on structure. Something they've built — on their GBP, on their website, in their backlink profile — is sending signals to Google that yours isn't sending yet.

The competitor analysis finds exactly what that is. Not in a general "they have more pages than you" way. Specifically. This category they're using that you're not. This cluster of service pages they've built around a topic you've left to a single paragraph. This geographic footprint they've established in the three towns between you that you haven't claimed.

Specific gaps produce specific fixes. General observations produce general confusion.

What the Analysis Actually Looks At

GBP comparison: your profile against your top three competitors, element by element. Categories, services, attributes, description, photo volume, post frequency, review count and velocity. Where they're fully built out and you're not is where you're losing searches you should be winning.

Website structure comparison: page count, page types, service page depth, category page structure, internal linking patterns, schema implementation. Most trades businesses are competing with a homepage and a services page against competitors who have thirty pages of structured content. The map pack reflects that imbalance.

Content depth comparison: are their service pages substantive — real topical depth that demonstrates expertise — or thin? Thin competitor content is an opportunity. A well-built service page targeting the same keyword will outrank a thin one.

Backlink comparison: what links are pointing to their site that aren't pointing to yours? Are those links attainable — local business associations, industry directories, regional publications?

Rank map comparison: where are they dominant in the shared service area? Where does their visibility drop off?
